Company History

Sherwood Brands was founded in 1985 when company president Uziel Frydman saw an opportunity in the retail marketplace for gourmet-quality confections at regular mass market prices. With his significant background in consumer packaged goods, Uziel set out to take advantage of that opportunity. Sherwood first succeeded in creating a value-added niche at regular everyday count good prices with its line of Elana chocolate bars. Elana bars, made with premium thick Belgian chocolate and a flavorful filling, soon became the "right priced" staple in the retail market.

Through Sherwood Brands' strategy of product development and corporate acquisition, the company expanded its presence and product offering to include butter toffees, hard candies, jelly beans, lollipops, biscuits and wafers. Notable acquisitions include the E. Rosen Company, Asher Candy Company and Kastin's. Sherwood also maintaines solid success by developing and branding several leading seasonal lines, with products for Valentine's Day, Christmas and Hanukah, Halloween, and Easter. Sherwood quickly became one of the top suppliers of Easter candy baskets for mass merchants such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, CVS, Rite Aid and more. Large company-owned assembly facilities and a steady workforce made Sherwood well-prepared to accommodate large-volume seasonal orders.

Sherwood continued to expand its product offerings with new flavors, brand extensions and the introduction of new product categories. Notable innovations were the company's line of COWS candy, lemon and coffee varieties of the company's top-selling Ruger wafers, and Tongue Tattoo lollipops.

Today, Sherwood Brands is a leading marketer of premium-quality confectionary products and gift items which specializes in seasonal and high-profile licensed product lines.

Our company has its corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD. Sherwood Brands is a publicly traded company on the Pink Sheets website [SHDB].
